Limaland Motorsports Park held their 27th Annual Season Championship night presented by Alexander and Bebout on Friday night, with beautiful weather and a great field of cars on hand for the final points race of the season. Dylan Woodling of Warsaw Indiana won the DIRTcar UMP Modified feature in his No. 3W car, while No. 10 Rolly Heyder grabbed his 3rd consecutive Limaland victory in the Dirt Track Truck Series A Main, and Craig Dippman won in a last lap duel with Todd Sherman to win the Lock Sixteen Thunderstock feature.

Tony Anderson secured his 14th Limaland Thunderstock Track Championship, while Todd Sherman bagged his 11th DIRTcar UMP Modified Track Championship. Both drivers just needed to take green flags to secure their championships, but the rest of the points battles were still up in the air.

Kicking off feature action were the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds for their 20 lap A Main. No. 9C Troy Catterene and Dylan Woodling would bring the field to the green flag with Catterene showing the way for a lap before Woodling would grab the race lead on lap 2. No. 65 Todd Sherman would charge to second on lap 4, before running down Woodling and battling for the lead before taking it on lap 11. Sherman was pulling away and seemed to be in complete control until 2 lapped cars got together in turn 4 right in front of the leaders. Sherman was collected in the incident, while Woodling was able to slip by unscathed. Woodling held off UNOH Racer Randy Giroux, in the UNOH No. 1 to capture the win, No. 16 Jeff Koz finished third, with Catterene fourth and No. 00 Mikey Leach finishing 5th.

The Dirt Track Truck Series was next with their 15 lap feature event. No. 10 Rolly Heyder and No. 22T Tony Anderson would lead the field to the green flag. No. 8 Joey Heyder would battle with Anderson and Rolly Heyder before caution would wave for the No. 1 truck of Kevin Knittle going up in smoke on the back straightaway. On the restart, Rolly and Joey Heyder would pull away with first and second position with Anderson keeping the pair in striking distance before a flat right rear tire would end Anderson’s chances at a truck win. Joey Heyder showed his nose to Rolly multiple times in the final 5 laps, but it was Rolly Heyder picking up the win over Joey Heyder. No. 2X Mike Grigsby would finish third, No. 17 Phil Hicks would battle back to fourth in his Warriors Way sponsored truck after being sent to the tail for a caution flag in lap 4. No. 0 John Sanford completed the top 5.

The Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks wrapped up the night with No. 82 Chris Douglas and No. 7 Dan Wooten leading the field to green in the 15 lap A Main. Douglas would battle with No. 22T Tony Anderson for the first 2 laps before Anderson would take the lead. UNOH Racer Dylan Drake would bring out the caution on lap 3, spinning in turn 4 in the UNOH No. 1. On the restart, No. 74D Craig Dippman would battle with Douglas for the second spot until Dippman got by on lap 4. This allowed No. 60 Todd Sherman to close in and battle with Douglas for the third position. Dippman found grip on the high side of the racetrack and closed on Anderson, passing for the lead on lap 8. Sherman battled his way past Anderson on lap 12 and setup a duel for the win. Dippman continued on the top of the racetrack while Sherman was using the low side to close in. Sherman caught Dippman in turn 3 on the final lap and the 2 drivers fought side by side up high through the final 2 corners, just inches apart. Dippman was able to find enough traction to beat Sherman to the line to garner his third win of the season. Sherman was second, Anderson third, Douglas fourth and UNOH Racer Houston Null rounded out the top five in the UNOH No. 11

Limaland Motorsports Park closes out the season Next Friday August 2nd with the annual Awards Celebration, Invitational Races, and King of the Quarter Mile Races, presented by K&L Ready Mix. The DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks, and Dirt Track Truck Series will compete in invitational races for the top 20 eligible drivers in the points standings. Following the Invitational features, the top drivers in the Modifieds and Thunderstocks will join the fans on the grandstand side and receive their 2024 points awards. Then the drivers will all head back to the pits and compete in the annual King of the Quarter Mile events in all three divisions, comprised of the feature winners from the 2024 season. If a King of the Quarter Mile has less than 6 competitors, then points standings will be used to determine the cars to fill the remaining spots. Following the King of the Quarter Mile races, we invite all the fans to join us in the pit area for the Pit Party presented by the Ohio State Beauty Academy, where you’ll be treated to hamburgers, hot dogs, and sides, while you mingle with the drivers and teams of Limaland to celebrate the end of another exciting race season. $12 General admission for ages 16 and older. Ages 11 to 15 is $6, and kids 10 and under admitted free. Your general admission price includes the pit party as well! Pit passes are $30 for all ages. Pit gates open at 4:30PM, Grandstands open at 5PM, Hot laps at 6:30PM, with a special earlier start time of 7:15PM.
