Boxell scores first career midget win in Streicher Memorial, Dippman wins Thunderstock feature, Joey Heyder earns big payday in Trucks, and Woodling s

Limaland opened the gates on Friday night for the Mike Streicher Memorial presented by Stolly Insurance. The USAC Midwest Thunder Midgets were in action to honor the memory of Streicher, the 1991 USAC National Midget Champion. The Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks, Dirt Track Truck Series and DIRTcar UMP Modifieds were also in action.

It was Zanesville, Indiana’s Jakeb Boxell picking up the Streicher Memorial victory in the No. 44JB, his first career midget win after multiple 2nd place runs. No 74D Craig Dippman from Oregon, OH picked up the win in the Lock Sixteen Thunderstock A Main. Joey Heyder scored his second Limaland Dirt Track Truck Series victory in the No 8 Truck. Dylan Woodling closed the night with a hard fought win in the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds.

The USAC Midwest Thunder Midgets would kick off feature action, with No. 63 Cale Coons and No. 10 Stratton Briggs bringing the field to green. Action was halted quickly when No. 21G Jimmy Guidry flipped violently in turn 2. Guidry walked away from the accident, and field refired for a complete restart. Briggs would grab the early lead, but No. 10G Chett Gehrke, Coons, Boxell, and No. 18 Zach Wigal were all chomping at the bit to take a shot at the leader. Gehrke would take the lead on lap 3 with Wigal grabbing the point on lap 5. Boxell would find the edge of the cushion to his liking as he charged to the front on lap 9. Wigal and Gehrke put on a show battling for 2nd until Gehrke pulled off the track late in the race. Boxell would emerge victorious over Wigal, Coons, “The Ohio Hammer” Luke Hall would finish 4th after starting 15th, and No. 35 Bryce Massingill would complete the top 5.

Next up were the Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks for their 15 lap feature. No. 74D Craig Dippman and No. 17H Devon Helmig led the field to the green flag, but the yellow flag would wave before the field could complete a lap as a 4 car pileup ensued in turn 4 involving No. 00 Houston Null, No. 26 Justin Long, No. 1W Mark Wooten, and No. 60 Todd Sherman. On the complete restart, Dippman took off with the lead and held on to pick up the win, despite overheating issues. No. 28V Shawn Valenti would finish second, with Helmig claiming third, No. 82 Chris Douglas fourth, and No. 7 Dan Wooten finishing fifth.

The Dirt Track Truck Series would be up next with the 75th feature event since the series inception. “RawHide” Joey Heyder took the win in the No. 8 over No. 10 Rolly Heyder, No. 22T Tony Anderson was third, No. 29C Chris Bitters fourth, and No. 17 Phil Hicks battled his way to finish fifth, after starting tenth in his Warriors Way sponsored truck.

Wrapping up racing action were the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds with their 20 lap feature event. No. 65 Todd Sherman, and No. 01 Brayden Weller would lead the field to the green flag, with Sherman grabbing the initial lead. No. 16 Jeff Koz would claw his way to second on lap 2 with No. 3W Dylan Woodling making his way to third. Koz would power his way to the lead on lap 8, but would lose the lead just 2 laps later, as Woodling pulled a slide job on lap 10 to take lead. Koz would be forced to pull off with mechanical woes a couple laps later. Woodling would cruise to victory over No. 21C Drew Charlson, Todd Sherman, No. 36 Brandon Vaughan, and No. 82 Brennan Sherman would finish fifth.

Limaland Motorsports Park is back in action next Friday July 5th with Firecracker Friday/Tribute to “Mr. Excitement” Tim Allison presented by T&D Interiors. The GLSS Ohio CAT Sprint Cars will be in action to honor the late Allison, longtime 360 Sprint racer, and multiple time champion. Also in action will be the DIRTcar UMP Modfieds, and Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks. Pit gates open at 4:30PM, Grandstand Gates open at 5:00PM, Hot laps at 6:30PM, and racing at 7:30PM. General Admission for ages 16 and older is $12, ages 11 to 15 is $6, and kids 10 and younger admitted FREE. Pit passes for all ages are $30.
