Stambaugh goes back-to-back to win Run for the Rabbit at Limaland.
With impending weather closing in on the Lima area, the staff at Limaland Motorsports Park kicked the show into high gear to complete the annual Run for the Rabbit on Friday night. Max Stambaugh won his 2nd straight Limaland feature in the GLSS Ohio CAT Sprint Cars in the Run for the Rabbit feature, honoring the memory of his fellow Elida native, Travis ‘the Rabbit” Miller. In the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, UNOH Racer Aidan Hinds picked up his first career victory, and Todd Sherman bagged his third straight Lock Sixteen Thunderstock feature win.
Kicking things off were the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds in their 20 Lap A Main. Multiple tries at a complete restart found the UNOH owned No. 01 piloted by Hinds taking the initial lead. Multiple cautions kept the field bunched up, but Hinds was able to pull away and pick up the win over No. 82 Brennan Sherman, No. 3W Dylan Woodling, No. X Eric Shepherd Jr. and No. 34X Shane O’Connor
Next up were the GLSS Ohio Cat Sprint Cars for their 25 lap A Main honoring the late Travis “the Rabbit” Miller. Drama ensued before the green flag flew as GLSS officials were forced to send polesitter Phil Gressman to the tail for a crew member working on the car on the track prior to the field being pushed off. This moved No. 71H Max Stambaugh to P1, and he took advantage of Gressman’s misfortune and lead wire to wire to grab his second straight feature at Limaland Motorsports Park over Jared Horstman, who closed to within two car lengths at the end. No. 66 Chase Dunham finished third, No. 23 Devon Dobie fourth, and No. 85 Dustin Daggett completed the top five.
Completing the night were the Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks in their weather shortened 12 Lap feature. UNOH Racer Houston Null in the No. 11 led the field to green alongside the No. 7 of Dan Wooten. No. 22T Tony Anderson charged to the front and led until the final lap, as No. 60 Todd Sherman powered by to grab his third consecutive win. Anderson would finish second over Null, No. 8 Zach Rush, and No. 7 Dan Wooten.
