Massingill becomes first two-time winner of Streicher Memorial, Woodling grabs Modified victory, Heyder tops in Truck, and Sherman wins second straigh

With the heavy rains beginning the week, it was questionable whether Limaland Motorsports Park would be able to run, but the staff and crew pulled together, and the racetrack was pristine for the Fifth Annual Mike Streicher Memorial presented by Post Printing. Troy, Ohio’s Bryce Massingill became the first two-time winner of the USAC Midwest Thunder Midget feature honoring Streicher. Warsaw Indiana’s Dylan Woodling grabbed his first win of 2025 in the DIRTcar UMP Modified feature. Rolly Heyder Jr. picked up where he left off in 2024 by winning the Dirt Track Truck Series feature, and Todd Sherman picked up his second consecutive Lock Sixteen Thunderstock A Main win.

Starting the night’s racing action were the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds in their 20 lap feature event. No. 4L Mike Learman and No. 14 Dalton Lane would lead the field to the green flag with Learman grabbing the early lead. No. 34X Shane O’Connor, and Lane would make contact on lap 2 battling for the second spot, but both were able to continue. Woodling would battle around O’Connor to grab second place and bide his time, with cautions slowing the race on lap 12, including a pile up on the first attempt at a restart involving 5 cars, including defending track champion No. 65 Todd Sherman. Woodling would get to Learman’s back bumper on lap 15 and power by for good on lap 17, cruising to his first win of 2025, and celebrating in victory lane with his new bride, Cayla. No. 17N Dillon Nussbaum would finish second, Learman third, No. 16 Jeff Koz fourth, and Dalton Lane fifth.

Next up were the USAC Midwest Thunder Midgets in their 25 lap A Main honoring the late Mike Streicher. No. 10 Chett Gehrke and No. 35 Bryce Massingill would lead the field to green with Gehrke grabbing the early lead. Caution would fly on lap 2 as the No. 44JB of Jakeb Boxell came to a stop on the front stretch with a broken fuel pump ending his bid to win back to back Streicher Memorial races. Gehrke would resume his lead on the restart, but Massingill would take his No 35 to the lead on lap 5 and never look back. 2023 Mike Streicher Memorial winner Zach Wigal in the No. 18 would charge to second on lap 18, but would not be able to close on Massingill, who would win and become the first two-time winner of the Streicher Memorial, winning over Wigal, Gehrke, No. 74 Luke Hall, and No 5 Matt Lux.

The Dirt Track Truck Series feature was next, with No. 8 Joey Heyder and No. 17 Phil Hicks leading the field to green. Joey would get a little over zealous and spin his truck in turn one, bringing out the cautions and forcing a complete restart. That would move Joey’s dad Rolly Heyder to the pole in the familiar No. 10 truck. Rolly jumped out front but was staked throughout the race by Hicks, No. 4M Dustin Moore and No. 22T Tony Anderson throughout the 12 lap A Main. Rolly would pick up the victory over Moore, Joey Heyder came back to finish third, Hicks was fourth and Anderson completed the top five.

Completing the night were the Lock Sixteen Thunderstocks in their 15 lap feature event. Last week’s feature winner No. 60 Todd Sherman, and No. 26 Justin Long would lead the field to green with Long powering out to the early lead. Sherman had his hands full with No. 82 Chris Douglas, No.22T Tony Anderson, and UNOH Racers Houston Null and Tyler Matheny, in the No. 11 and No. 01 cars all battling for position. Sherman was able to pull away from the others and set his sights on Long. Caution would wave on lap 7, just as Sherman began to pressure Long for the lead. On the restart, Long would lead until lap 10, when Sherman would get a great run off turn 4 and dive to the inside of Long down the front stretch, grabbing the lead heading into turn 1. Long would spin out just as Sherman got past, bringing out the caution one last time. Sherman would cruise to his second consecutive victory over UNOH Racer Houston Null, Douglas, Anderson, and No. 7 Dan Wooten.

Limaland Motorsports Park roars back to action next Friday May 16th with the annual “Run For The Rabbit” honoring the memory of the late Travis “The Rabbit” Miller.
